Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup freshly brewed coffee
  • 2-3 green cardamom pods lightly crushed
  • or ¼ teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1 sugar or honey (to taste) optional
  • Splash of milk or cream optional

Equipment

  • Coffee maker (drip, French press, pour-over, or moka pot)
  • Measuring spoons
  • Small mortar & pestle or flat knife (for crushing cardamom pods)
  • Mug or cup

Method
 

  1. Brew your coffee as usual.
  2. If using whole pods: add them to the grounds before brewing.
  3. If using ground cardamom: stir it into the hot coffee after brewing.
  4. Sweeten with sugar or honey if desired.
  5. Add milk or cream (optional).
  6. Stir, inhale the aroma, and enjoy!

Black cardamom coffee (unsweetened, no milk): ~4 calories

Additional Notes

    • For the best flavor, use freshly ground cardamom seeds instead of pre-ground cardamom.
    • Start with a small pinch—cardamom is very aromatic, and a little goes a long way.
    • Works well with cold brew: add crushed pods to the grounds before steeping overnight.
